Prostatomegaly Causes

Prostatomegaly is a medical condition in which the prostate gland increases in size up to an abnormal level. It usually occurs at the age of 40 to 45 years. It may be mild, moderate or severe according to the symptoms of prostatomegaly. But when we talk about causes, these are limited. The usual causes behind prostatomegaly are discussed below.

It usually occurs in male at the age of 40 to 45 years. At this age, it is common that it enlarges in size. It is an aging phenomenon. It is considered normal at this age. It is not obvious that it will start increasing in size at the age of 40 but after 40, the chances of prostatomegaly are higher till 80 years of age.

Most of the men at the age of 50, suffer from the symptoms of prostatomegaly. But the exact cause behind it is still unknown.

Another common cause may be the changes in hormones of men. Hormonal change in body at the age of 40 or later, may cause prostatomegaly and other problems in men.
A family history with prostatomegaly or any other problem regarding prostate gland in ancestors may increase the risk of prostatomegaly in next generation.

Any kind of abnormality in the testicles of men, causes problem in fertility of men. It is also responsible for causing prostatomegaly. It has a strong connection with the testicles that if the testicles are removed at the very young age, there are no chances of having benign prostate hyperplasia BPH at the age of 40 or later.

These are the most common causes of prostatomegaly. But other than these causes, it may occur as a complication of many other diseases in men. It may also occur as an adverse or side effect of medications. It is sometimes secondary to the medications used for another problem in body. But these medications leads to prostatomegaly. So quiting these medications helps a lot in treatment of prostatomegaly.

As age passes, the size of the prostate gland increases and this increase in size is Normal. Its size increases as a result of multiplication of cells. Due to increase in size, it start covering the urethra and leads to various problems and most common of them is urinary retention. It may lead to further complications in body.

Other factors may include abnormalities or problems in the reproductive system of body in men, in testicles, and problems in the urinary system of men. Hyperplasia is a condition in which the cells multiply and a s a result the organ start increasing in size. This increase in size if occur in prostate gland then it is termed as prostatomegaly. It may occur at any organ of body.

The treatment is designed according to the cause behind it . As treating the leading cause behind prostatomegaly will help a lot in controlling benign prostate hyperplasia BPH in men. It is almost obvious at the age of 40 or above so men should follow some precautions to avoid it.
